Personal Details:
Tilak Bahadur Negi Lama was born on 27th Asar 1992 B.S. (approximately July 10, 1935 A.D.), on a Thursday during Guru Purnima, Shukla Paksha 10. His permanent address is Dandakharka VDC, Ward No. 1, Makwanpur District, though he currently resides in Thankot, Kathmandu. He holds Nepali citizenship.
He was born into a respected family,his father was the late Ram Prasad Negi Lama and his mother the late Shanti Devi (Negi) Lama Moktan. He was married thrice — to the late Naramati Syangtang, late Kanti Laxmi Devi Syangtang, and Phulmaya Syangtang.
He completed his education up to the middle level in 2008 B.S. (around 1951 A.D.) and subsequently gained practical experience in various fields. His current contact address is Ward No. 9, Tilganga, Kathmandu Metropolitan City; presently he lives in Thankot, Check Post, Ward No. 7.

Professional Life and Interests:
Mr. Lama dedicated his life to social service, farming, politics, and religious activities. He is known for his engagement in religious, social, and political service, always upholding the ideals of simple living and high thinking.

Published and Unpublished Works:
He authored several notable works including Saral Bauddha Dharma Sangrah, Dharma Chaitya Punyafal, Lokeswar Upasan Brata, and Introduction to Tamang Hyulthim and Origin Places. His contributions extend to various literary and religious articles published in numerous magazines and journals.
His unpublished manuscripts include Upavas Mohan Brata: An Identity and Merit and The Yeti: An Analysis.

Political Contributions and Leadership:

  • In 2007 B.S., he took part in the anti-Rana movement led by Dr. K.I. Singh and actively participated in the Vairagania Conference, which sought to end the Rana regime.

  • In 2008 B.S., he joined the armed revolution against the Delhi Agreement and traveled to China with Dr. K.I. Singh, supported by the Liberation Army.

  • After receiving amnesty from King Mahendra in 2012 B.S., he helped establish the United Democratic Party of Nepal under Dr. K.I. Singh’s leadership.

  • He played a significant role in the 2015 B.S. general elections supporting Tek Bahadur Gurung and initiated educational reforms by establishing schools at every election booth, advocating for teacher salaries to be standardized nationwide.

  • Founder Chairman of Saraswati School in Dandakharka-3 and Treasurer of Panchakanya School in Vaikuntha-5 (2015 B.S.).

  • Served as nominated member of Makwanpur District Council (2016 B.S.) and was elected unopposed as Chairman of Dandakharka Village Panchayat (2018 B.S.).

  • Elected unopposed as a member of Makwanpur District Assembly in 2019 B.S., serving as District Panchayat Member and later Vice-Chairman and Acting Chairman during 2025/26–2030/36 B.S.

  • He actively participated in land reform campaigns in 2021 B.S. to alleviate poverty in Makwanpur.

  • In 2034 B.S., he petitioned King Birendra to include the underprivileged Chepang community in the National Development Program.

  • As Regional Chairman in 2035 B.S., he inaugurated the People’s Development Committee in Manahari alongside Princess Prineeb Shah for the upliftment of Chepang people.

  • Won the National Panchayat elections from Makwanpur with a majority in 2038 B.S. and became the first Tamang appointed Minister for Labour and Social Welfare on Asar 2, 2038 B.S.

  • After the political changes of 2046 B.S., served as Central Vice President and Acting Chairman of Janata Dal (Samyukta Prajatantrik), later advising the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (Makwanpur).

  • Appointed Chief Election Commissioner of the All Nepal Himalayan Association in 2049 B.S., helping to reorganize the association.

  • From 2051 B.S., served as Chairman of the All Gorkha National Democratic Freedom Party and from 2055 B.S., Vice Chairman of RPP (Chand faction) in Makwanpur District.

Organizational and Religious Involvement:
Throughout his life, Mr. Lama was deeply involved in political, social, and religious organizations:

  • Nominated member of Nepal Children’s Organization, Makwanpur (2031 B.S.).

  • President of UNESCO Cultural Club (2049 B.S.).

  • District Member of Nepal Farmers’ Organization (2031 B.S.).

  • Founding President of Nepal Youth Organization (2022 B.S.).

  • Active member and president of several Buddhist organizations, including Nepal Buddhist Tamang Association, Nepal Sarvodaya Buddhist Dharmachakra Association, and Nepal World Buddhist Friendship Federation.

  • Served as senior advisor to the Nepal Tamang Ghedung Central Committee and Tamang Gumba Service Committee, among other religious advisory roles.

  • Founding member of the World Hindu Unity Council (2055 B.S.).

  • Honored with the title “Shibucho” by Reiyukai, Bhaktapur Branch (2058 B.S.).

  • Entered the Japanese Buddhist Tao sect at Thamel Vihar (2059 B.S.).

Mr. Lama received numerous prestigious honors recognizing his service and dedication, including:

  • Royal Coronation Medal (2031 B.S.)

  • Swarn Rajmukut Chitrangit Panchsheel Medal (2033 B.S.)

  • Cash Prize for Buddhist Art Exhibition (2034 B.S.)

  • Service Medal from the King (2036 B.S.)

  • Gurubhakt Ratna Award (2039 B.S.)

  • Great Buddhist Patron Hero title from World Mahayana Buddhist Federation, Assam, India (2050 B.S.)

  • Multiple medals and honors for social contribution, peace efforts, and Buddhist advocacy throughout his lifetime.

Lifetime Memberships:
He held lifetime memberships in the Nepal Red Cross Society, Dharmodaya Sabha, World Mahayana Buddhist Federation (Assam, India), and was a founding lifetime patron of the Ahimsa Buddhist Dharmachakra Service Association, among others.

Pioneering Local Development in Makwanpur:
As Chairman of the Dandakharka Rural Development Committee (2013 B.S.), he vigorously worked to eradicate poverty, corruption, and illiteracy. He advocated for establishing schools aligned with electoral booths to improve education access.
He managed family land responsibilities after his father’s passing and initiated infrastructure projects such as the Palung–Dandakharka–Vaikuntha–Lothar road, symbolically inaugurating it with a local goat sacrifice ceremony at a black stone shrine.
His efforts helped connect remote and underprivileged Chepang, Tamang, and other communities with major highways through coordinated road surveys and link development by the Department of Roads in 2039 B.S.
